Week 7 NFL picks

The 14 NFL games on the slate for Week 7 are all intraconference matchups, so the AFC doesn't get to beat up on the NFC this week.

Here's a breakdown of each game, with WagerWeb.com NFL Odds:

Arizona (+8.5) at Washington: The Cardinals will be starting Tim Rattay in place of Kurt Warner, and the Redskins have one of the best defenses in the league, ranking third overall in the NFL. The pick: Washington.

Atlanta (+8.5) at New Orleans: The Falcons have ended the Joey Harrington era, with Coach Bobby Petrino saying Byron Leftwich will start the rest of the season. That's if Leftwich can stay upright.

Atlanta's offensive line is in shambles, and Leftwich is immobile. The Falcons are winless on the road, the Saints winless at home. Something's gotta give! The pick: New Orleans.

Baltimore (-3) at Buffalo: This smells like a trap game, with the Bills coming off a bye week to prepare.

Interestingly, this is the Ravens' first-ever visit to Buffalo. The pick: This smells like a defensive struggle and a push, but if it may be worth buying to 3.5 and taking the Bills.

Minnesota (+9.5) at Dallas: This smells like a trap as well. The Vikings will pound Adrian Peterson against a Cowboys team that was just pummeled by New England.

You have to expect a Dallas letdown here. The pick: Minnesota will not win but will cover.

New England (-16.5) at Miami: It's rare to find a team this heavily favored on the road, although the Pats covered a similar number at Buffalo earlier this year. Still, Cleo Lemon gives the Miami offense some hope for points. The pick: Miami to cover.San Francisco (+9) at New York Giants: The oddsmakers are starting to get on the Giants' bandwagon, as the G-Men have won four in a row. This line would undoubtedly be lower if Alex Smith was playing QB for the 49ers, but he isn't. The pick: Giants.

Tampa Bay (+2.5) at Detroit: The Bucs don't like domes, generally. And the Lions are a completely different team at home, one that can put up points in a hurry. I still think Tampa Bay is the league's most overrated team. The pick: Detroit.

Kansas City (+3) at Oakland: The Chiefs have won eight in a row over the Raiders and 26 of the past 34. And Oakland has a porous run defense for Larry Johnson and (welcome back!) Priest Holmes to run through. The pick: Kansas City.

New York Jets (+6) at Cincinnati: This seems like a no-brainer. Neither team plays defense, but the Jets Can't score and the Bengals should at will. The pick: Cincinnati.

Chicago (+5) at Philadelphia: You could argue the season is about over for the loser of this game.

Philly will try to run on a suddenly weak Bears defense, but Brian Westbrook isn't Adrian Peterson.
The Pick: Chicago covers.

St. Louis (+8.5) at Seattle: Marc Bulger returns at QB for the Rams, while Seattle comes off a surprising loss to New Orleans. With no Steven Jackson, St. Louis can't win but could be competitive. The pick: Rams score garbage TD to cover.

Pittsburgh (-3.5) at Denver: The Steelers are coming off a bye and getting receivers Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward back, not to mention safety Troy Polamalu.

Denver is coming off a bye but lost 41-3 at home in is last game. The pick: Steelers.

Indianapolis (-3) at Jacksonville: The Jags ran all over the Colts last year, but the Colts are coming off a bye and should have Joseph Addai, Marvin Harrison and Bob Sanders back and healthy. The pick: Indy.
