Saints Search for Win against Panthers at Superdome

The 0-3 New Orleans Saints will be trying to finally put a notch in the win column on Sunday afternoon when they play host to the 2-2 Carolina Panthers at the Superdome in Week 5 action.

The Panthers looked lethargic in last week's 20-7 home loss vs. Tampa Bay, as David Carr failed to instill any confidence in Carolina fans with his performance in his first start for the team. Carr was a dismal 19-for-41 for 155 yards, one touchdown and one interception in that contest and he did not lead the Panthers to the end zone until there was only 23 seconds remaining in the game. Carolina's defense also allowed 189 yards on the ground last week. The Saints are coming off a bye week, and their biggest concern has been their offense. New Orleans boasted the league's best offense last season, but this year they have been bitten by injuries and plagued with inconsistency. The Saints also have to replace Deuce McAllister in the backfield, as the bruising back is out for the year with a knee injury.

The Saints are 3-point favorites at home in this contest (with a total of 43.5), and you have to believe that the New Orleans fans will push them to the victory. The Saints need to take advantage of the Panthers' quarterback problems, as it seems as though Carr will get another chance under center in place of the injured Jake Delhomme.
