Oklahoma (10) at Texas (19) College Football Game

A hotly contested football matchup becomes even more important in the Big 12 this week as No. 19 Texas hosts No. 10 Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl, with both teams needing a win to have any hope of staying in the NCAA National Championship hunt.

The Sooners fell 27-24 at Colorado last week as they were held to 230 offensive yards while committing three turnovers. Sam Bradford was only 8-for-19 for 112 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. As well, the defense could not stop the Buffaloes from running on them as they allowed a mediocre Colorado offense to pile up 161 yards on the ground. The Longhorns were dropped 41-21 at home by Kansas State last week, as Colt McCoy had one of his worst games as a college quarterback by going just 19-for-39 for 200 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions - including one that was run back for a major. The Texas special teams were just as atrocious allowing a punt return and a kickoff return for touchdowns, as the Longhorns were severely outplayed in every facet of the game for the second straight year by Kansas State.

The Sooners are 11.5-point betting favorites on the road in this contest, but Texas has won the past three meetings between the two, including last year?s 28-10 win at Oklahoma. The Longhorns are 57-35-9 against the Sooners overall.

But if the Longhorns are going to continue their winning ways against Oklahoma, they will need improved play from McCoy and the special-teams units. The Sooners are listed as 12-point favorites with the total sitting at 54. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 pm ET.
