NFL Odds - Super Bowl - Brady injured?

Well, there's one sure way to lower the spread in Super Bowl XLII between the Patriots and Giants: an injury to New England QB Tom Brady.

And that now may be the case, although the Pats remain 12-point favorites on WagerWeb.com.

A video taken of Patriots QB Brady, available on TMZ.com, along with accompanying photos on the Boston Globe and Boston Herald web sites, shows the NFL's MVP gingerly walking Monday afternoon around a New York neighborhood (that of girlfriend Gisele Bundchen) with a walking cast on his right foot. However, he later was spotted that night walking without it.

During his weekly appearance on a Boston radio show, Brady didn't dismiss the notion he had suffered some type of leg injury during Sunday's AFC Championship Game victory over the San Diego Chargers.

"Ah, you know, there's always bumps and bruises. I'll be ready for the Super Bowl," Brady said when asked point-blank if he had a leg injury. "I'm not worried about that. I'm not missing this one. I'd have to be on a stretcher to miss this one. There will be treatment this week. In games like this, you get a little nicked up. It's nothing serious."

Brady appeared to be limping Sunday as he left his news conference following the Patriots' victory and he had his leg looked at during the fourth quarter. He was sacked twice and appeared to be slightly hobbled after Igor Olshansky and Stephen Cooper tackled him for an 8-yard loss on the final drive of the game. He has started in 126 consecutive games, the third longest streak by a quarterback in NFL history. The Patriots had no comment - the team is off until Thursday and the next injury report isn't due until Wednesday of next week.

Meanwhile, the Giants' only injury of significance from Sunday's win appears to be to guard Rich Seubert's knee. Seubert left the game in the second half and was replaced by Grey Ruegamer.

"Seubert will have an MRI on a knee," New York coach Tom Coughlin said. "And hopefully that is not going to be something that will keep him down. That guy has been a tremendous source of inspiration to everybody.

The way he has played and the way he has come back from a very, very serious injury (a severely fractured leg suffered in 2003). He tells me that he is going to be ready to go. When he has done that in the past he has followed through with it."

Coughlin said he did not know anything more about the injury, but he added that Seubert had told him that he expected to be able to play in the Super Bowl.

"We got two weeks to play the (Super Bowl)," Seubert said. "I will play in two weeks."

The Giants will resume practicing Thursday at Giants Stadium. They will practice for three successive days and are expected to fly to Arizona on Sunday.
