NFL Football Betting - Jacksonville at New Orleans

The New Orleans Saints will look to climb back to the .500 mark on Sunday, while the Jacksonville Jaguars need a win to keep pace in the highly competitive AFC South.

The Jaguars battled through a number of injuries last week to edge Tampa Bay 24-23 as a 3.5-point underdog. Backup quarterback Quinn Gray made his first start of the season in place of the injured David Garrard, and completed 7-of-16 passes for 100 yards with a touchdown. Jacksonville’s running back tandem of Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew both played hurt in the win, with Taylor dealing with a groin injury and Jones-Drew coping with a sprained knee.Taylor carried the bulk of the load with 24 carries for 68 yards, while Jones-Drew had only 10 carries for 48 yards. Third-string running back LaBrandon Toefield also saw some action with six carries for 12 yards and a touchdown. The Jags’ defense did their part to lighten the load on the injury-depleted offense with three interceptions, including one by Aaron Glenn that was returned for a touchdown. Taylor and Jones-Drew were both left off the early injury report this week and should resume their regular workload this weekend.

The Saints reeled off their third straight win last week with an impressive 31-10 defeat of San Francisco as a 1.5-point favorite. Drew Brees had his best game of the season, completing 31-of-39 passes for 336 yards with four touchdowns. Receiver Marques Colston broke out after a slow start to the season with eight receptions for 85 yards and three touchdowns. David Patten also had a solid game with a team-high 109 receiving yards on five receptions. Reggie Bush rushed for 64 yards on 10 carries before suffering bruised ribs versus San Francisco, but he participated in full practice this week and isn’t expected to miss any time.

The Saints and Jaguars last met up back in 2003 when Jacksonville clipped New Orleans 20-19 as a 3-point favorite. The Saints are listed as a 3.5-point favorite in Sunday’s game.
