NCAA Football Line: Michigan vs Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Badgers (7-3) are looking to make up for a disappointing season after starting the 2007 campaign as a preseason top-ten school, and a win over No. 13 Michigan (8-2) at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday would be welcome consolation.

The Wolverines came from behind to beat Michigan State 28-24 on the road last week for their eighth straight win, as Chad Henne passed for 211 yards and four touchdowns and Mike Hart ran for 110 yards to lead Michigan. The Wolverines also took advantage of some bad penalties by Michigan State, but it was the experience of their key seniors, Henne and Hart, that allowed Michigan to stifle their state rivals.

The Badgers lost 38-17 at Ohio State but the final score doesn’t tell the whole story, as Wisconsin stayed with the country’s No. 1 team for three quarters before giving up 21 fourth-quarter points. The Badgers clearly missed star running back P.J. Hill, as they gained only 12 yards on the ground against the Buckeyes while allowing 211. The Badgers also had a pair of turnovers against Ohio State.

The Wolverines are 2.5-point road betting favorites in this Big Ten contest, as they have won seven of their last eight meetings with the Badgers. But Wisconsin is riding a 13-game winning streak at home, as the last time they lost at Camp Randall Stadium was in 2005 when they fell 20-10 to Iowa.

The key to any success Wisconsin may have in this contest will be whether Hill can find a way to play against the Wolverines, because as last week’s loss to Ohio State proved, it’s tough to win in the Big Ten without a solid running game.
