NCAA Odds - Miami at Virginia Tech

The No. 10 Virginia Tech Mountaineers (8-2) have been hanging around the Top 10 in the national rankings all season, and they can move up this week with an emphatic win over the Miami (FL) Hurricanes at Lane Stadium.

The 'Canes lost their fourth game in five outings last week as they were embarrassed 48-0 by Virginia in the final game to be played at the Orange Bowl. Miami committed five turnovers and allowed 418 yards, while gaining only 189 yards. Kyle Wright was 9-for-21 for 94 yards and three interceptions as Miami fell behind 31-0 at halftime. Virginia Tech blew last week's 40-21 win over Florida State wide open with a 20-point fourth quarter. The Hokies forced three turnovers, and returned two interceptions for touchdowns. Tyrod Taylor was 10-for-15 for 204 yards, two touchdowns and a pick, while also running for 92 yards and another major.

The Hokies are big 16-point favorites at home in this ACC contest, as Virginia Tech is very strong at home. But the Hokies have to be careful to not get caught looking ahead to next week's massive game at Virginia, because the 'Canes are sure to play better after their debacle against the Cavaliers.

Miami is still eligible for a bowl if they can beat Virginia Tech or next week's opponents from Boston College, so they will come out with some fire. Virginia Tech has beaten Miami three of their last four meetings, including 17-10 on the road last year.
