South Carolina at LSU Football Game Betting Preview

An early-season SEC showdown highlights the Saturday college football schedule as the 19th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks look for a big upset win over the second ranked LSU Tigers.

The Tigers have dominated in every game they've played so far this season thanks to a high-scoring offense and a defense that has been nearly impossible to score against. LSU blanked Middle Tennessee

The Gamecocks remained undefeated on the season after tackling South Carolina State 38-3 last week. Starting quarterback Blake Mitchell wasn't the sharpest he's been all season, but he was still able throw three touchdowns passes while completing 14-of-21 passes for 147 yards and three interceptions. Cory Boyd led the ground attack with 132 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, while Mike Davis also passed the century mark 102 rushing yards on 16 carries.

This will be the first meeting between LSU and South Carolina since 2003. The Tigers won that game 33-7 as a 4.5-point road underdog. In Saturday's game the Tigers are a 16.5-point favorite.

44-0 last despite missing two of their regular starters on offense. Head coach Les Miles decided to rest starting QB Matt Flynn, who had suffered a sprained ankle a week earlier, and No. 1 receiver Early Doucet. Even without them the offense rolled over Middle Tennessee behind backup QB Ryan Perrilloux. In his first career start Perrilloux completed 20-of-25 passes for 298 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. With Doucet on the bench Demetrius Byrd led all receivers with 86 yards and a touchdown on two receptions. While the LSU offense practically scored at will the defense stonewalled Middle Tennessee. The defense held the Blue Raiders to 90 total yards of offense in the game, which include a miniscule nine rushing yards.
