2007 NCAA Football Conferences: Best of the Rest

Proving there could be quite a bit of parity in college football this season, here are two more conferences which could be in the hunt for the National Championship game and other BCS bowl games. Big East
The Big East can lay claim to having two teams in the preseason Top 10, and a total of three in the top 25. These conference contenders are led by West Virginia at No. 3. The Mountaineers will be powered by perhaps the nation's top running attack with quarterback Pat White and Heisman candidate Steve Slaton. The elusive running back will also line up in the slot this season, so teams will have a harder time keeping tabs on him. Fourteen other returning starters will ensure the Mountaineers will be even better than last season. Louisville Cardinals snuck into the last spot of the Top 10, but their offense led by quarterback Brian Brohm has the ability to light it up at any time against any team in the nation. Rutgers (along with Boise State Broncos) was the surprise team of 2006, and the Scarlet Knights have their own Heisman candidate in Ray Rice. However, the No. 17-ranked Scarlet Knights' opponents will be much more prepared to face them this season. Bet at Wagerweb Big 12

The Big 12 is always one of the toughest conferences in the nation, and this year is no exception as four teams made it into the preseason Top 25. Texas Longhorns leads the Big 12 at No. 4, and all eyes will be on Colt McCoy to see if he can improve on his stellar freshman season. The sophomore has all the skills and tools (his five top receivers are back this season) to become an all-out star in 2007. Oklahoma Sooners makes another appearance in the Top 10 despite losing Adrian Peterson to the draft. Allen Patrick looks to be the next in a long line of productive Sooner running backs. Nebraska rounds out the top 20, as they prepare for life without quarterback Zac Taylor. That's too bad, because the Cornhuskers are back on track and could rival the Longhorns for depth and experience. Texas A&M completes the Top 25 and the Aggies welcome back nine starters, including nine on offense. The game at Nebraska on October 20th could be a defining moment for the Aggies.
