College Football Betting Preview: Oregon at Michigan

The Wolverines will try to save their season on Saturday when the Oregon Ducks travel to Michigan. After Michigan's improbable upset loss to Appalachian State last week, the Wolverines may not be national championship material no matter what they do the rest of the way. After all, the loss did knock Michigan out of the Top 25 completely even though they were ranked at No. 5 before kickoff.

Michigan's 34-32 loss to Appalachian State was the upset to end all upsets. The loss wasted what was an incredible day for running back Mike Hart, who shredded the Mountaineers' defense for 188 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries. Quarterback Chad Henne had an up-and-down game while completing only 19-of-37 passes for 233 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The third part of Michigan's offensive triumvirate, wideout Mario Manningham, had a quiet game with only three receptions for 66 yards. The once-stalwart Michigan defense showed it still has a lot of work to do after allowing the Mountaineers to record 387 total yards of offense.

The Ducks started their season out right with a resounding 48-27 win over Houston as an 18-point favorite. Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon did it both through the air and on the ground with 134 passing yards and two touchdowns, and 141 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. Running back Jeremiah Johnson also has a solid game on the ground with 70 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 11 carries.

It's been awhile since Oregon and Michigan have faced one another, with their last meeting coming back in 2003. The Ducks won that contest 31-27 as a 7.5-point home underdog. Oregon will be looking to win as the underdog once again on Saturday, after the Wolverines opened as an 8-point favorite.
