Tuesday NBA: Hawks (24-16) at Bulls (18-24)

Both Atlanta and Chicago face off on Tuesday night in the second of a back-to-back, and that could be to the Bulls’ benefit because they are healthier than Atlanta, which is a 4.5-point underdog on WagerWeb.com.

Already missing Al Horford with a knee injury and Marvin Williams with a concussion, the Hawks lost backup point guard Acie Law to injury on Monday, yet they beat the Raptors 87-84. It was just Atlanta’s second win in seven games. Atlanta moved to 20-5 when holding opponents to under 100 points.

finished with 28 points for Atlanta, which has won two of three since recovering from a four-game skid. Josh Smith added 22 points and 14 rebounds in the win. Johnson has averaged 24.7 points over his last three games, and in the Hawks’ previous meeting with the Bulls on Dec. 27, Johnson had a career-high 41 points in a 129-117 home victory.

Law is out 7-10 days, Horford is not close to coming back yet and Williams is expected to miss Tuesday’s game and try to get back Friday vs. the Bucks.

“Once my head stops hurting, they said I can get my heart rate up and see if my head hurts when my heart rate gets up,” he said.

Atlanta has beaten Chicago twice already this season, including a 113-108 decision Nov. 11 at the United Center. They are looking to sweep a series with Chicago for the first time.

The Bulls (-190 on the WagerWeb.com money line) have lost two straight, including a 102-98 setback Monday in New York – a game, frankly, that Chicago should have won. The Bulls are 13-8 at home this year, while Atlanta is 8-12 on the road. The Hawks have lost seven of their past eight at the United Center.

Since returning from a sprained left ankle a week ago, Chicago’s Luol Deng has averaged 16.8 points and 9.4 rebounds in his last five games, and has recorded three double-doubles in that time.
