NFL odds: Glenn wants out of Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys didn't address their lack of receiver depth in the offseason, and now they might be without their No. 2 wideout (well, maybe 2A), as Terry Glenn says he wants the team to release him if it continues to insist that he sign an injury waiver before playing.

"I'm not signing any waiver,' he said."If the Cowboys don't want me, it's time to move on.'

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that Glenn has not directly informed him of his desire to be released and that he certainly wouldn't negotiate through the media.

"I'd like for him to come back, but the nature of his injury is one that it can go in the next step," Jones said. "So that's two big of a risk for our team to take, and I don't think any team will take that risk.

"He made a lot of money from us last year for not playing."

Glenn made $5 million last season, when he missed the first 15 games after two operations on his right knee. He has refused to agree to a $500,000 injury waiver, the amount the Cowboys want to give him instead of his $1.74 million base salary this season if he reinjures his right knee and is unable to play again. He said he's been doing football and basketball drills to ensure he has no pain or swelling in the knee, but he has yet been able to practice.

"I'm just following my heart and it tells me that this situation isn't right for me and my family any more," Glenn said.

The 33-year-old is scheduled to count $3.190 million against the cap this year. Because it's June, the Cowboys can spread out the proration of his bonus money this year and next. Next year, however, he would count $2.8 million against the cap.

"We'll just see what happens between now and training camp," Jones said, adding that he had an agreement with Glenn before the receiver fired his agent.

If Glenn were to be released, that would lock in Patrick Crayton as the No. 2 receiver, as he was much of last season. However, he often has a case of the drops. That means the Cowboys' young wide receivers - specifically Miles Austin, Sam Hurd and Isaiah Stanback - would potentially get a major opportunity.

Hurd was the No. 3 wideout with Glenn sidelined last year.Bet on the Cowboys at WagerWeb.com
