NASCAR odds: Lifelock 400

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stops at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday for the Lifelock 400. And one team in particular has ruled this track:
Jack Roush's.

Roush drivers have won 10 times at MIS in the Sprint Cup Series to go with three Nationwide wins and three Craftsman Truck wins at the track. Mark Martin leads the way with four trips to Victory Lane at MIS in Sprint Cup, followed by Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle with two apiece. In last year's race, Carl Edwards took the checkered flag to end a 52-race winless streak.

Edwards has dominated at MIS over the last three years. He has an average finish of 6.8 in that span and has more quality passes than any other driver at MIS. Edwards always performs well at the "cookie cutter" tracks, especially at 2-mile Michigan where he has completed 88.2% of his laps in the top 15. He is one of the betting favorites at WagerWeb.com.

Of Edwards' 10 career NASCAR Sprint Cup wins, seven have come at tracks measuring 1.5 or 2 miles (the other three came at Bristol, Dover and Pocono). Edwards has three wins this season, all at 1.5 or 2-mile tracks.Michigan's fast and wide racing surface leads to long green flag runs. This fact often brings fuel mileage and pit strategy into play during the race.

You may want to put some money down at WagerWeb.com on Matt Kenseth. He has reeled off five consecutive top-seven finishes heading into MIS.

If you want a good long-shot bet, try Martin Truex Jr. The driver of the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Chevrolet for DEI was runner-up in both races at MIS last year.

Last but not least is Kasey Kahne, who the Pocono 500 last week after dominating the two weeks NASCAR stopped at Charlotte. Those successes catapulted him into ninth in the points standings behind Kyle Busch and now he arrives at a track where he has a victory in 2006 and four top-five finishes.

"Momentum is so big in this sport," he said. "To win at a track like Pocono says a lot. . The excitement, the confidence and everything - you go to Gillett Evernham right now and everybody is walking around there with a smile on their faces. That's not how it was a month and a half ago. . I'm just glad I can be part of it."

One racer to stay away from this week is Ryan Newman: He hasn't had a top-10 finish at MIS since winning the spring race in 2004, seven races ago.
